Spark AR Studio Enhances and Extends AR Library

New assets, including sound effects and 3D objects, make it easier to create attention-grabbing AR effects

As an amazing year of advancements and growth for Spark AR comes to its end, we have one more exciting update to share — a bundle of gifts, if you will, for our community of creators.

Today, as part of our latest update of Spark AR Studio (v78), we’re expanding the AR Library feature and adding hundreds of new assets, ranging from audio files and 3D models, to patch assets and script packages. We’re also enhancing the user interface, making it easier to browse, discover and add assets to your AR projects.

With these additions to AR Library, our goal is to make it easier for you to quickly find the attention-grabbing assets that can help make your AR experiences more engaging and immersive. Here’s a quick overview of the improvements rolling out with today’s update:

Enhanced Usability and Discovery Features

We’ve improved the AR Library user interface, which now groups categories of assets into more intuitive “collections.” For example, in the Audio category, you can now find collections for sound effects, music, ambient sounds, and more.

We’ve also extended search capabilities, and updated the home screen, which now features assets and collections you might find helpful.

Depth and Diversity of Audio Files

Today’s AR Library update comes with hundreds of new sounds that you can use to design more immersive AR experiences, including:

  • Ambient Sounds: express a mood or add background noise to define a space, like the sound of waves, rain or even a vehicle rumble to simulate a moving vehicle.
  • Sound Effects: add short sound effects to animations and/or interactions like button clicks, air horns or notification tones.
  • Music: choose from a diverse selection of musical content and compositions, or build your own instrument using musical elements.

Adding Popular 3D Starter Assets

We’re adding a popular set of starter 3D models or “primitives” that you can quickly add and customize. Simply search the library, pick the one you like and add it to your project. Additionally, you can continue to access and use Sketchfab's huge library of 3D assets from Spark AR Studio.

New Customizable Patch Assets & Script Packages

For the first time, we’re adding patch assets to the AR Library — these are ready-to-use patches designed by Spark AR creators that can be quickly added via the Patch Editor to add animations, popular visual shaders, exponential smoothing and other functionalities. You can simply use them as they are or customize them for your AR project.

Additionally, we’re including several new script packages that combine scripting functions into modules that you can add or edit to quickly customize and control your AR experience. You can learn more about script packages in our new AR Library documentation.

Today’s Spark AR Studio (v78) update is available now for download on all macOS and Windows compatible computers. To keep up on all the latest Spark AR updates, sign up for our emails, and follow us on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
