The Media Library

Spark AR Studio effects can be added to videos and photos in a device's media library.

Only Instagram effects can be used in the media library. Not all features can be used in effects that are enabled for the media library.

How to enable effects for the media library

  1. Go to Project in the menu bar.
  2. Click Edit Properties...
  3. Check the box next to Available on media library.
  4. Click Done.

All you need to do now is build your effect. Features that are not available will be grey and you won't be able to add them to your project.

Simulating the media library

When you enable your effect for the media library you’ll be able to use the Simulator to test how your effect will look on a range of media. To do this, click the Switch to Media Library icon at the bottom of the Simulator:

You can also add your own images to the Simulator. To do this:

  1. Click the Switch to Media Library icon at the bottom of the Simulator.
  2. Next to Media library simulation, click +.

Then choose the image or video you want to add from your computer. Once you've added it the video or image will be listed under Media library simulation. Select it to see it in the Simulator.

To exit the media library in the Simulator:

  1. Hover the mouse over the Simulator.
  2. Select Exit media library.

Limitations

Effects that are enabled for the media library can't include these features:

  • Audio features and the microphone.
  • Touch gestures, including Native UI.
  • The target tracker and plane tracker.
  • Video.

Updating effects enabled for the media library

If an effect is enabled for the media library it’ll have an ‘Enabled for media library’ badge on it in Spark AR Hub, under the file name:
